NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch was released from a Daytona Beach, Fla., hospital Tuesday morning and was transported to a North Carolina hospital for further medical treatment.

Busch’s wife, Samantha, tweeted out a picture of her husband on a stretcher being loaded onto a plane. According to Bill Janitz of True Speed Communication, the driver is feeling well and in good spirits.

Samantha Busch posted this photo and message to her Facebook on Tuesday Morning:

We get to go back to NC! Thank you to everyone at Halifax for taking such great care of Kyle Busch! You all were so wonderful and we appreciate it! And thank you to all of you for the continued prayers! I will keep you up to date!

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver suffered a compound fracture of the lower leg and a mid-foot fracture in the left foot in an incident during Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway. Involved in a multi-car wreck with nine laps to go, Busch’s No. 54 Toyota struck a concrete wall at nearly full speed.

Busch was immediately transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Florida and underwent successful surgery Saturday night on his right leg. Further surgery on his left foot will take place at a North Carolina hospital.

Two-time defending Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton filled in for Busch during Sunday’s Daytona 500, finishing 19th. A substitute driver is expected to be named later today.
