The crew chiefs of Ryan Reed and Darrell Wallace Jr. are swapping positions ahead of this weekend’s race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Seth Barbour will be in charge of Wallace’s No. 6 Ford, while Chad Norris takes over duties with Reed’s No. 16. The change-up comes with 13 races left in 2015.
“Jack (Roush) has a history of similar moves, and we have experienced a great deal of success in the past with these types of adjustments,” Roush Fenway team president Steve Newmark told Motorsport.com. “We feel this will provide both teams with renewed energy as we enter the stretch run of the season.”
Only Reed, in his second Xfinity season, has earned a win in 2015. That came in the season opener at Daytona. Since then, the No. 16 has failed to finish in the top 10 and has an average finish of 16th. Reed’s best result has been 11th at Auto Club Speedway and Dover International Speedway.
The duo of Wallace and Norris earned seven top 10s in the first 20 events of the season, the most recent coming four races ago at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (eighth). Wallace also has one pole (Dover).
“Chad Norris has a successful history working with several different drivers of all experience levels and we are excited to see Ryan Reed continue to develop under his guidance,” Newmark said. “At the same time Seth Barbour provides tremendous engineering experience to all of our XFINITY programs and will bring great leadership to Bubba Wallace.”
