Dylan Ferrandis is coming to the United States next year; but not with the team most originally thought.

In his Observations column earlier this week, Steve Matthes reported that Ferrandis would join Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha in 2017. At the qualifying press conference today at the MXGP of Germany, Ferrandis confirmed he has signed a two-year deal with Star Yamaha beginning next season, reports MX Vice.

“I think everybody knows. I will race for Yamaha Star Racing next year in the supercross championship,” said Ferrandis, per MX Vice. “I don’t know whether it’ll be the East or West Coast, but I have signed a deal for two years with Yamaha Star Racing.”

Ferrandis, currently a member of the Team Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 team in Europe, was expected to join Mitch Payton’s Monster Energy/Pro Circuit squad.

The move makes sense for Star, who will lose Cooper Webb to the 450 Class next year. Two-time Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 250MX Champion Jeremy Martin is also expected to move to the 450 in 2017.
