Boyd Gaming, one of the longest-running title sponsors in the NASCAR Nationwide series announced today that they have extended its sponsorship of the Las Vegas Nationwide race for another four years, making it one of the longest running title sponsors in the NASCAR NAtionwide series.

The parent company of Sam’s Town, Boyd Gaming announced the extension of the sponsorship agreement which has been in place since 1998, taking its support of the saturday race to the 20-year mark.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have the best title sponsor in the NASCAR Nationwide series,” said LVMS prseident Chris Powell. “This event has become one of the most popular on the circuit, and our friends at Boyd Gaming share a great deal of the responsibility for that success.”

The press announcement was a very laid back announcement that also had an interesting moment when Bruton Smith was talking about how nice the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is and how “great this track is” and “we need a second date……don’t we….” Smith was talking how LVMS only has one Sprint Cup date on the schedule.

For years we have hear rumors and talk of Las Vegas getting a second date and Smith has something else to say about one of his tracks, “….just like Texas, Texas has a nice track….and a second date…..oh hi Eddie, you have a nice track…” Bruton   knows how to stur the pot. Talk for Las Vegas has died for the most part over the last 6 months and how with this he has started it back up again. But why bring up Texas? Texas is a great track that has fills the house every year, twice a year, no way that Bruton Smith would move a date from Texas to Las Vegas…..or would he?
