Head Racing and Western Sales Management Auctioneers are joining forces with a sponsorship for the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park Feb. 21-23.

“Obviously, we’re very excited to partner with WSM Auctioneers, and they’re a family business, and so are we, and I think it’s a great fit for us,” said Funny Car driver Chad Head. “This is the first step of acquiring funding of this race team, and with WSM Auctioneers onboard, hopefully we can attract future sponsors so we can campaign the entire NHRA season.”

WSM Auctioneers has been in business since 1971 and specializes in the sales of construction equipment, utility trucks, light trucks, equipment trailers, and recreational vehicles. WSM also sells building material, structural steel, shop equipment, and power and hand tools.

“I’ve always loved the sport, and I drive my own Top Fuel sand dragster,” said John Cadzow, owner/president of WSM Auctioneers. “We’re hoping to gain exposure for our company, and since we have our regular auction on every second Saturday of every month here in Phoenix, it would be a great way to get our company’s message across to those people in the construction and utility business.

“I’m looking forward to meeting everyone this weekend and seeing all the excitement that NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing brings. I’m looking forward to seeing the turnout and the response from our customers. There are a lot of fans at every race who are connected one way or another with the construction business either with their own company or work for one. The partnership with Head Racing is to let people know Western Sales Management is out there and have services we can offer them in the heavy-equipment market.”

Head, driving in his sophomore season, has only raced at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park facility once, driving his family Nostalgia Funny Car, and will debut this weekend his NHRA Head Racing Toyota Camry in the WSM Auctioneers colors of green, yellow, and black.

“With 600 feet of new concrete, we’re anticipating a great racing surface,” said Head. “Add to that NHRA’s superb Safety Safari track prep, and we’re expecting great times out of all the nitro classes. We’re hoping all will go well, and they’re calling for temperatures in the upper 70s, and we’re looking forward to a good race out of the WSM Auctioneers/Head Racing team.”

At the NHRA season opener in Pomona, Head was defeated in the first round of eliminations. He has learned from the encounter and is looking forward to round-wins this weekend.

“Yeah, I revved the car up a little at the starting line in the first round at Pomona, and we figured that may have compounded the outcome of it out there smoking the tires,” stated Head. “We’re hoping for bigger and better things this weekend along with our new partnership with WSM Auctioneers at Phoenix.”
