Alex Bowman says he’s missed enough Cup races the past two years that he will cut back on racing outside of NASCAR in the future.
Talked to Dave Moody on SiriusXM this week, Bowman said, “I’ve missed … 10 Cup races over in the last two years for injuries for Ally, Hendrick Motorsports, and Chevrolet. I can’t afford to miss more races. I need to be in the car every week.”
He said he won’t be in a winged sprint car for the foreseeable future, but intends for that to change once he’s done with Cup racing.
Bowman missed 4 races this year after a sprint car crash that caused a fractured vertebra. Following his accident, Hendrick Motorsports said they are “always evaluating” outside activities by their drivers.
In 2022, Bowman missed six races due to a concussion during a wreck at Texas in September.
