Austin Theriault continues to work hard to find even a part-time ride in either the Xfinity or Camping World Truck series for the 2016 season.

His first priority is to take part in either series season opener on Feb. 19 or 20 at Daytona International Speedway, according to a report in the Bangor (Maine) Daily News.

Theriault, who turns 22 this month, told the Daily News where he is at now after talks with several teams and is hoping to get a multi-race ride for 2016.

“I’m more confident about Daytona than anything else [after Daytona],” Theriault told the Daily News. “There’s a really good chance I’ll be [racing] at Daytona.”

Theriault raced a Truck part-time last season for Brad Keselowski Racing, competing in 8 races (recording two top-five and four top-10 finishes) before he suffered a 10 percent compression fracture in his back in a wreck Oct. 3 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

He missed several races recovering from his injuries before returning for the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where he finished 12th.

“I’m confident something will come together,” Theriault said of 2016. “I would love to run a full schedule but, at this point, it would surprise me if that happens. It is possible.

“There are a lot of conversations going on. … I want to be in decent equipment. I want to put myself in the best position to run up front. At the same time, I’m being realistic.”
