For a few days, Brad Keselowski Racing has been teasing on social media the addition of a third truck to its lineup.
On Monday, the team announced the third truck will be will be driven by Austin Theriault in the season-opening Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway and
Theriault will drive the No. 2 Ford F-150 alongside Tyler Reddick and Daniel Hemric who both have full-time rides with the team. Buddy Sisco will be Theriault’s crew chief.
“I’m really excited and can’t wait to get back to Daytona,” Theriault said in a press release. “I can’t thank Brad enough for this opportunity. I’m going there with the expectation to win and I’ll do whatever it takes to get the checkered flag.”
Theriault drove for BKR part-time in 2015 and competed in nine races. In his eighth race, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Theriault was involved in a hard crash that resulted in the Fort Kent, Maine native suffering a compression fracture in his back. He did not return to the track until the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The 22-year-old driver made his Truck debut in 2015 at Daytona. He led nine laps and finished fourth in the effort.
Sisco has been with BKR since 2013 and serves as a special projects coordinator and liaison between the two full-time teams.
“You always want to run well at Daytona, and I think we have an excellent chance to do that with Austin,” Sisco said. “Our teammates are running for the championship and won’t take as many risks, but we can get outside the box a little bit and try some different things setup-wise to see if it pays any benefits.”
