A broken collarbone sustained Saturday night in Oakland in the 250SX LCQ will sideline 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha’s Zach Bell for an undisclosed amount of time.
Bell went down in the second corner in the LCQ before remounting and trying to finish the race. The injury occurred after Bell made a mistake in the whoops section later in the race.
According to the team, Bell will undergo surgery this week to have the collarbone plated.
“In the LCQ, after getting knocked down right off the start I knew making the main was doubtful but I wanted to pass as many guys as possible,” he said. “There was no way I was going to quit or not put in 100 percent and then I made a mistake and that was it.”
This is Bell’s first season with the team. He spent his three injury plagued years with GEICO Honda and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna prior to 2016.
