1996 Indianapolis 500 and 2000 IndyCar champion Buddy Lazier will attempt to race his way into the 2014 Indy 500 with a family-owned car.
The 46-year old Colorado native made his return to the Indianapolis 500 last year, but an early mechanical failure put him out of the race. However, the team have now had a whole year to put everything back together, and Lazier is confident that this year will provide better results.
“It took a monumental effort in 2013 to organize the team in such a short period of time and make the race,” said co-owner Bob Lazier, reports IndyCar.com.
“Now we’ve had an entire year to organize the team, and we have raised the expectations for this year’s Indianapolis 500.”
“Though I was happy to be back in the race in 2013, I was not happy with our performance race day,” said driver Buddy Lazier in the IndyCar.com report.
“With Chevrolet power and augmented by corporate support from Phillips Energy Partners and Herman Miller, I am confident we’ll have a competitive program in 2014.”
