The RCR camp has gone back and forth from 3 teams to 4 teams for the better part of the last 10 years. For the last 2 season the team has had 3 teams under RCR with a 4th team running a handful of races for the last 2 season. On Monday, team owner Richard Childress was asked about plans for next year during a media teleconference:

Q: At New Hampshire when we talked to you about the lineup and sponsorship, you said definitely Menard and Burton, question mark, possibly a fourth driver. A couple weeks down the road, after the Budweiser announcement, do you have an idea when you would like to nail things down and have an announcement ready for 2014 on the driver and sponsorship lineup?

Childress: That’s a good question. Right now we’re finalizing some final things. We have sponsorship on a third and we actually have some sponsorship on a fourth. But having it all finalized and put together, it could be a couple of months down the road before we have everything ready to do some announcing on any of that.

RCR has Jeff Burton and Paul Menard in the #31 and #27 for the 2014 season with an open seat in the #29 right now. No word from RCR who will be in the #29 in 2014 or who will be the sponsor for the season. Word in the garage area is that Ryan Newman will be the #29 in 2014 and that Childress’ grandson Austin Dillion, who has driven for RCR in the Nationwide series for the last 2 season, could be the 4th car in cup if more funding is found. With Dillion driving the #3.
