Cory McClenathan, still among the top 10 winners in NHRA Top Fuel history, will return to the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals and will bring with him and old friend in Texas-backed-sponsor Berryman Automotive Products.
Berryman, a Dallas-based manufacturer of automotive chemicals, including cleaners and degreasers, originally rode with McClenathan 2002-04, and joined him in the winner’s circle at the 2002 NHRA World Finals in Pomona.
“It’s great to be back with the Berryman family,” said McClenathan, a 34-time Top Fuel winner and multi-time championship runner-up who will be wheeling Dexter Tuttle’s Liquid MPG dragster at the event, Oct. 15-18 at Texas Motorplex. “We’ll have a lot of Berryman employees out for the weekend to enjoy some pitside hospitality and see the Berryman Chemtooler back in action again, and for their line of products to be back out in front of racers and race fans.”
Maurice Blankenship, president of Berryman Automotive Products, shared McClenathan’s enthusiasm.
“What a pleasant surprise to hear from Cory after more than 10 years,” he said. “His enthusiasm has certainly not diminished, and neither has his love of racing. That’s why I’m excited that Berryman is going to co-sponsor Cory at the event. The last time we were associated with Cory, he took his Top Fueler to the finals so we’re hoping for a repeat performance. Many of our folks will be there cheering him on. Who knows where this may take us in the future?”
The event is the fifth of the season for McClenathan, who drove Mike Dakin’s dragster at events in Gainesville, Bristol, Norwalk, and Chicago.
In addition to Berryman and Liquid MPG, McClenthan’s efforts also will be supported by longtime backer Nordic Boats.
