Jeg Coughlin Jr., who sat out all but three races of the 2015 season, will return to racing on a full-time basis next year as a member of Richard Freeman’s Elite Motorsports team. Coughlin will be joining the existing Elite roster of 2015 defending Pro Stock champion and current points leader Erica Enders, this year’s odds-on favorite for rookie of the year honors Drew Skillman, and past national event winner Vincent Nobile.

Said Coughlin, “I am excited to return to the driver’s seat in Pro Stock as part of Elite Motorsports in 2016. I have known Richard for years, and he has assembled a great team. The three races I ran earlier this year with Richard and the Elite Motorsports team made it very clear to me the commitment they have to winning; we look for this to be a great partnership.”

Coughlin’s three appearances with the Elite team took place in Sonoma, Seattle, and Indianapolis. He reached the semi’s in Sonoma and the final round in Seattle.

“We are really proud to be making the addition of a driver of the caliber of Jeg Coughlin to our already excellent program,” said Freeman. “Erica Enders’ Pro Stock championship campaign from 2014 and her continued success this season has really added credibility and prestige to our team, which has enabled us to grow with the acquisition of such major talent as crew chiefs Mark Ingersoll and Brian “Lump” Self. It’s this kind of forward movement that we expect will provide even more success for our program in the coming years ahead.”

Added Coughlin, “2016 will be an exciting year for Pro Stock with the new rule changes. The engines will be EFI controlled with the cowl-style hoods, and we look for the performance and appearance of the cars to be crowd-pleasers!”
