The “A-Train,” former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Mike Alstott, will be the grand marshal of the 2015 Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, March 12-15 at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville.
Alstott, who will be introduced during the pre-race ceremony Sunday, March 15, at 10 a.m., has had the honor of serving as a grand marshal multiple times since 2005.
“Mike Alstott is a natural fit between a top-tier athlete and a race where drivers are constantly pushing the limits of speed and performance,” said Harry Barkett, CEO/president of Amalie Motor Oil. “As a manufacturer of high-quality lubricants and petroleum products, we strive for all our products to be ‘better than it has to be,’ a motto Alstott emulated throughout his career.”
Gatorland of Orlando’s Dean of Gator Wrestling, Tim Williams, will serve as the honorary starter for the event. A reptile expert and renowned alligator wrestler, Williams has spent a 40-year career educating Florida’s first responders on reptiles and teaching the art of alligator wrestling. Williams has appeared on numerous television shows and movies, including on Animal Planet, History channel, and Discovery channel. Fans can meet Williams and take pictures with alligators, including fan favorite “Willie Bite,” at the Amalie Motor Oil booth on the Manufacturers Midway Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15.
