Team owner Rick Hendrick hopes to put Chase Elliott, the 17-year-old son of 1988 Cup champion Bill Elliott, in a Nationwide Series car in 2014. Chase Elliott is coming off a win in the ARCA series last weekend at Pocono with Aaron’s as his primary sponsor.

He has finished sixth, fifth and fourth in three starts for Hendrick in the Truck Series with Aaron’s on the hood. Asked about his plans for 2014, Hendrick, a co-owner of JR Motorsports, said “Hopefully, in the Nationwide Series.”

Hendrick didn’t rule out Aaron’s being the sponsor.

“They like him a lot,” Hendrick said before Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.

“They’ve been with him since he started. We’ve had a lot of interest in him — a lot of interest. I tell you, his record in Trucks, and that [Pocono] race, it was pretty awesome.”

Hendrick signed Elliott to a multiyear deal in 2011. (ESPN.com)
