Four-time champion Ron Hornaday is looking for a ride for next season after being told that Friday night’s Camping World Truck Series race would be his last with NTS Motorsports. Hornaday said that Steve Turner contacted him and will put him in a Truck for next week’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Hornaday’s run with NTS Motorsports ended after a tire blew and sent him into the wall. He finished 28th. The 55-year-old Hornaday said he was told 10 minutes before the race that Friday would be his last ride with team.
“We left on good terms,” he said. “If you don’t want me there I don’t want to be there. We shook hands. We’ll go on.” Hornaday is 11th in the points with nine top-10 finishes in 21 starts. Hornaday, the winningest driver in series history, said he still wants to race and will look for a ride for next season.
NTS Motorsports has released Ron Hornaday, Jr. of his driving duties, following the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. The driver for the #9 NTS Motorsports truck will be announced prior to the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“We at NTS Motorsports appreciate everything Ron (Hornaday) has done this year to help build NTS Motorsports in its first year competing at the national level in NASCAR,” said team owner Bob Newberry. “Ron has been a great asset to our organization and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
