Joey Logano does not have a great track record with rings.

The newlywed 25-year-old recently lost his wedding band during his honeymoon in Costa Rica when his kayak flipped in the water. The Team Penske driver bought a replacement, but caught some ribbing from fellow competitors and media alike.

On Sunday, the Team Penske driver was presented with another ring, this one for winning the 57th running of the Daytona 500.

“We did everything we possibly could to prepare ourselves for this race,” said Logano. “Got a really cool ring because of it. It’s very neat.”

When asked if he’ll take better care of this ring, Logano learned a valuable rule about being married.
“This one is harder to replace, I think. Well, I take that back. I screwed up, didn’t I?” Logano said as the room burst into laughter and his wife, Brittany, looked on from the side of the room.

And then the celebrations continued in Gatorade Victory Lane for Joey Logano and his Team Penske crew.

“Insert foot here,” crew chief Todd Gordon said immediately.

After a bit of backpedaling, Logano did his best to stay out of the doghouse.

“What I meant to say (is), she’s still here with me, it’s just a symbol. She would be impossible to replace. That’s how you redeem yourself,” he said with a smile. “I’m going to stop. I feel like I came out neutral on that one. But, no, overall, the ring is super cool. I’ll make sure I put it next to the bed when I go to sleep tonight, along with the trophy and Brittany.”

Nice save, Joey. Nice save.
