Jimmie Johnson hasn’t been to victory lane since 2013 and in a season where wining places you in the season ending Chase, Johnson and Chad are not off to a great start. Jimmie Johnson has now run 10 races to start the 2014 without a win. It is tied for the third longest such streak of his career.

In his rookie season of 2002, Johnson won in this 10th race that season at Auto Club Speedway (his 1st career win in his 13th career race) and finished the season 5th in the championship.

In 2012 Johnson didn’t win his first race for that season until the 11th race at Darlington, finishing 3rd in the championship.

Johnson’s longest streak was in 2003, his 2nd full-time season, not winning his first race of the season until Charlotte, the 12th race of the season and finishing 2nd in the championship.

This hardly means that Johnson will not make the Chase but 10 races in, this is the time that the cream starts to rise to the top and Johnson and the 48 team keep showing up that this might be the year that they won’t be the ones battling for the Championship in November and they might not make the chase if this keeps up.

Johnson has spun out, crash, blown tires and had bad cars more often than not this season and the wheels might be coming off the bus at this point.
