The world has been waiting for Josh Grant to finally emerge at a race this year. After riding for the now-defunct TwoTwo Motorsports Kawasaki team last year, the 2009 Anaheim supercross winner didn’t get a full-time ride for 2016. He’s been riding a Suzuki RM-Z450 at home but time on the Suzuki didn’t result in a replacement ride when Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John’s/RCH Suzuki needed to fill Broc Tickle’s spot (the ride went to Jake Weimer). Yoshimura Suzuki has missed multiple races with Blake Baggett and James Stewart down with injuries, but hasn’t filled any positions.
Grant has also been linked to Team Tedder/Monster Energy Kawasaki racing but the bottom line is he has been absent from the starting gates this year. Now, according to an Instagram post from HLTN CO, a clothing company Grant has a role in, JG will be racing the Daytona Supercross next weekend.
The post doesn’t link Grant to an existing team but also doesn’t say if he’ll be racing on his own. The post indicates this is a road trip, so maybe Grant is trucking his own bike all the way to Florida. We’ll keep tracking this one.
Grant finished tenth at Daytona on a JGR Yamaha in 2014, and eleventh last year on the TwoTwo Motorsports Kawasaki.
