AutoTrader.com/Monster Energy/JGR Yamaha’s Justin Barcia will return from a thumb injury that’s forced him to miss the past nine rounds this weekend in Santa Clara.

Barcia injured his thumb in a mountain bike crash prior to the season, but elected to try and race the first two rounds. Cleary in pain, Barcia struggled to disappointing fifteenth and eleventh place results at Anaheim 1 and San Diego 1 before electing to undergo surgery.

Phil Nicoletti, who filled-in for Barcia over the past nine rounds, will begin preparations for Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, which begin May 21.

Barcia missed eight rounds of the supercross season last year due to a pelvic injury before returning late in the season.
