NASCAR has made an adjustment to the oval wet weather tire procedure.
The following updated language will be used as part of the general procedure for wet weather tire usage on ovals. This will be in place starting with this weekend’s events at Richmond Raceway:
Natural caution and still in wet weather conditions
- Tire changes permitted (wets for wets)
- Teams will manage how they will use their wet weather tire allotment of four sets
- Team’s option to stay out on the track and gain positions in relation to those who entered pit road
Previously, NASCAR dictated when teams were allowed to change wets for wets when on an oval racetrack.
