raders Racing Kawasaki’s Nick Gaines sustained a fractured right femur yesterday at Pala Raceway in California while preparing for the 250SX East Region of Monster Energy Supercross.

We contacted Traders Racing Kawasaki’s race director Skip Norfolk who said that Nick underwent surgery at Palomar Medical Center yesterday and that the fracture was described as clean and straightforward. Norfolk told us Gaines had a rod and two pins inserted and started physical therapy this morning.

While the team doesn’t have a timetable for his return, there is hope that Gaines can return for the start of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross on May 21.

Gaines, a native of Georgia, is entering his second year with the team, who received more support from Kawasaki this year.

We’ll update more on Gaines’ status for outdoors as the season progresses.
