The world famous Brass Age car “Holiday Motor Excursion” New Year’s driving tour will be getting hand-cranked and warmed-up early at the Irwindale Event Center on Sunday morning December 30th. Hundreds of Classic Horseless Carriages from all over the state will begin assembling on the facility’s East parking lot and for their annual run through Pasadena at about 7am getting ready for a full dress departure parade from the venue at about 9:30am.

This will be the incredible 57th annual running for this unique parade of cars many of which date back to some of the earliest machines ever built, all of which are still very much in perfect running condition.

These wonderfully colorful turn-of-the century vehicles and their (even more colorful) owner/operators (along with their appropriately-period-dressed passengers) will all converge on the Irwindale Event Center parking lot for to gather and gawk at each other’s machines and then mount up and clatter off on a classic adventure. Free.

Just don’t forget the camera!

Entry and parking are free!

Oh sure … watching folks gluing cornflower seeds one at a time on a giant replica of a South American Auk or a larger-than-life-size fake ivory bust of DeWitt Clinton is some sort of “interesting” New Year’s eve afternoon viewing … But these cars from the days when they were referred to as somehow being missing a set horses to make them move, are as spectacular as they are spindly. The word CLASSIC may be very properly capitalized and bolded in this case! (Irwindale Speedway)
