Five of the seven injured fans taken to Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, Fla. following Saturday’s horrific Nationwide Series crash have been released from the hospital.

The two that remain are in stable condition, a hospital spokesperson told ESPN.com on Thursday. At least 28 fans were injured by debris when Kyle Larson’s car went airborne into the catch fence on the last lap of the Nationwide opener at Daytona International Speedway. Fourteen were treated and released at the track.

The most serious were transported to Halifax Health. Two were listed in critical condition, one life-threatening with head trauma, upon arrival. They remain hospitalized.

Fans were hit by debris after the car of Kyle Larson got airborne during the final lap of the Nationwide Series race. Larson’s car was ripped apart by the catch fence, with pieces of the car, a wheel and suspensions pieces flying into the crowd. The engine from Larson’s car tore through the fence and landed in front of the first row of the seats.

No drivers were injured in the accident. (ESPN)
