Phoenix-based USD Inc., the southwest’s leading distributor of original equipment parts for Ford, General Motors, and Mopar, will sponsor the Jim Dunn Racing team at NHRA’s return to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park,
USD has been a primary sponsor of the fan favorite team in the past and is looking forward to the event’s return to their home market.
In addition to primary graphics on the Jim Dunn Racing Funny Car, USD will also be hosting 500 guests at the event to recognize their employees and customers who enjoy NHRA drag racing and want to be a part of the team throughout the weekend. In addition to its Phoenix headquarters, USD also has facilities in Albuquerque, El Paso, and Denver to serve their customers in a multi-state area.
The Jim Dunn Racing team is coming off a solid opening race in Pomona, where the team qualified No. 12 on the strength of two consistent runs of a 4.12 and 4.10 seconds. The team’s hopes of returning to the semifinals as it had during the previous year’s NHRA Winternationals were dashed when the team lost a close race to Alexis DeJoria and then had its Funny Car end up in the sand trap when parachutes did not deploy.
Team Manager Jon Dunn expressed optimism in getting ready for the Phoenix race.
“The crew has been working non-stop to repair the car from its trip into the sand trap,” he said. “The front-end body and components were damaged when it went off the track, but we’ve gotten everything repaired. Outside of that incident, we had a positive start to the season and are ready to see all of our friends from USD after last year’s event not being able to take place. USD has been a great supporter of Jim Dunn Racing and we look forward to putting on a good show for all of their guests.”
New associate sponsors Deville Hard Seltzer and ChocoWafers will also be supporting the team again this weekend.
“Deville’s ownership group was able to make it out to the race in Pomona and had a great time,” said Dunn. “We are working on California-based business-to-business programs with them and have ChocoWafers going into Menards stores in the Midwest this week, so it’s great when sponsors can see the effectiveness of being a part of our team.”
