NASCAR leaders will cut the ribbon to a brand-new productions facility in Concord, marking the latest addition to what’s becoming a growing part of the NASCAR brand.

NASCAR continues to add facilities north of Charlotte as the sport expands its footprint outside the Queen City. Since its creation in the 1940s, NASCAR and North Carolina have gone hand-in-hand. By the ’60s, Charlotte was the official place for all things racing.

But over the last few decades, NASCAR leaders have started taking their business up Interstate 85. In 2003, NASCAR unveiled its research and development center in Concord. Since then, Cabarrus County leaders have enticed the racing empire to bring its production facility from Uptown to a massive new space in Concord.

The new facility is expected to be fully operational by early January.
